50p Phone Line Tax Stalled
07 Apr 2010 | 08.12 Europe/London
The 50p land line tax has bitten the dust as part of the negotiations to conclude Parliamentary business.
Conservatives oppose the 50p/month levy and consequently it had to be dropped to secure agreement.
Labour say the will re-introduce the tax if re-elected, with the intent of using it to fund delivery of Next Generation Access to the areas of the country that would not be served by the private sector's commercial rollout.
