Availability checker update
16 Jul 2004 | 22.18 Europe/London
I've made a couple of small changes to the availability checker this evening. The most useful, which has been requested in a few emails to me, is that it now reports the distance from the postcode you input to your exchange. It is extremely important to remember though that the distance reported is "as the crow flies" - meaning that the cable length will almost certainly be quite a bit longer.
However, in testing this new feature I discovered a problem. It seems that the BT SDSL checker was updated this week, and the postcode-only checker has been removed. This has caused a problem with some of my postcode to exchange lookups, so please bear with me whilst I hunt for an alternative.
As a side note, if you ever need to find the distance between two postcodes, you might like to check out this page.
