Availability checker web services documentation
08 Sep 2004 | 17.49 Europe/London
In recent months I have been developing an availability checker backend interface that can be used by other sites to provide their own availability checker. Well, after some recent upgrades and the completion of the documentation last night, I'm pleased to say that it's ready to use.
A number of sites have been using it already, including Broadband Buyer and DSL ZoneUK. As you can see from those sites, you can create your own checker which pulls data from this site, without the user ever leaving the original site.
The checker itself accepts a phone number and/or postcode as inputs, as well as a list of items you wish to check. The output can be produced in XML or as a serialised PHP array. The data produced by it allows you to create a very versatile checker, such as the one on this site (with the exception of the dynamic mapping element).
