Broadband becomes a legal right in Finland
01 Jul 2010 | 09.29 Europe/London
Finland today becomes the first country in the world to make broadband access a legal right.
A new law comes in to effect today requiring all Finnish households be provided with at least a 1Mb connection. The UK has set a similar target of 2Mb for every British household by 2012 but the goal has not been made a legal right.
The Finns are aiming to have 100Mb connections to all households by 2015.
