“We will be announcing RFS dates next Tues/Wed for all those exchanges that triggered up to the end of December.
We have also made progress on the

Bits ‘n’ bobs

03:16 pm - January 29th, 2004 by Sam

As some of you have noticed, I upgraded (and temporarily broke!) the availability checker last night. You can now check everything (ADSL, SDSL, NTL, Telewest, Bulldog and Easynet) using only a postcode. Easynet checking is much faster now (both with postcode and phone number), and a timeout has been introduced for the NTL checker

12:17 am - January 29th, 2004 by Sam

Yesterdays RFS dates seem to have generated a large amount of negative attention amongst campaigners. Whilst the quantity (52 dates) makes a slight impact in the 315 odd backlog, most people are more worried about ‘queue jumping’.
Whilst some exchanges have been waiting 50 days or more for a RFS date, some in yesterdays announcement

Few site additons

12:36 am - January 26th, 2004 by Sam

To kick off my two weeks break from University I’ve added a few new features to the site.
Firstly, exchange data is now categorised by county as well as region. Well, I say counties, but some areas are clearly split down further in to boroughs. The same statistical information is available for counties as with the

Just a small snippet of news;
“Please note that all 4 exchanges in [the Gwynedd] partnership now have RFS dates of 18th March.”
That means that Llanwnda and Pwllheli have had just under 2 weeks shaved off their dates. The other two (Port Dinorwic and Bethesda) remain unchanged.

Email abuse

05:54 pm - January 20th, 2004 by Sam

There’s been lots of talk on the BT message boards today about campaigners receiving unsolicited mail from a certain company. It appears that this company (which shall not be named here) used the campaigns list this site to harvest the addresses.
Whilst they deny that their email was spam, I and many of the recipients

Further update to the RFS situation

After my post earlier this afternoon, an announcement was made on the BT message boards stating the following:

Linear exchange graphs available

05:28 pm - January 11th, 2004 by Sam

The linear exchange graphs have been requested quite a lot by the hardcore statistics junkies, so here they are -
http://www.samknows.com/broadband/linear-graph.php?ecode=SWTAT
Whilst that doesn’t look much to the eye, you can specify a limit in days to go back. (Not specifying a limit shows ALL data for the exchange!)
For example; http://www.samknows.com/broadband/linear-graph.php?ecode=SWTAT&limit=30
The advantages to these graphs? Well, they

10,000 pre-registrations via this site!

That’s right… as of a couple of days ago (yes yes, I forgot to check) the site had taken 10,000 registrations! These were gathered from the “Register Now” link at the top left, campaigners websites that integrated my form, spreadsheets manually sent to me and, most recently, from the new Get On And Get It
