'Be' breaks UK broadband speed record with an 18.5 Meg connection

Be, the UK's newest broadband provider, broke the speed record yesterday when their first customer, Stefan, connected to the Internet in Clerkenwell with a download speed of 18.

UKOnline Release 24Meg

UkOnline have been conducting trials with parent company Easynet since March this year.

In reaction to Be Unlimited offering consumer trials of the 24Meg service in the London area, UkOnline are looking at beginning consumer trials immediately.

Be Unlimited are offering 24Meg download and 1Meg upload, unlimited internet access.
On 24 exchanges in the London area, we are in the process of enquiring into where those 24 exchanges are to a better level of detail.

Firefox extension update

A few people commented that they would prefer the extension to redirect to this website as opposed to a different website, so it has been updated to work with the availability checker script here, as well as a few other little bugs being ironed out.

New team member

Samknows Firefox Extension

There is now a Firefox extension available to anyone who uses samknows.com quite often.
The extension allows you to use the Broadband Availability checker on the fly, by just entering a telephone number, and clicking Go.

New BT charges

From the 1st September 2005, BT Wholesale will be reducing the charges made for new ADSL provisions. Quite a few ISPs do not charge this, as they spread the cost over a 12-month period.

Bulldog produce further rollout

Today we have been informed that Bulldog is offering LLU services outside of M25.
The 7 areas are listed below:

Hoddesdon, Herts
Bedford, Bedfordshire

Boreham, Chelmsford

In addition they have enabled a further 11 exchanges within the M25 to bring the total to 78.

BT Launch IP Stream Home 2000

Following a successful three month trial, BT Wholesale have announced that the trial for IP Stream 2000 has completed and the product will be launched on the 10/02/2005.
