Delayed O2/Be LLU activation dates - updated
We’ve received an awful lot of emails over the past few days from people keen to find out when Be Unlimited and O2 will be offering services in their area. The sudden upsurge in this email traffic is of course because the June 30th RFS (Ready For Service) date for around 150 exchanges has passed. In March the company announced that it would be extending its services to cover a further 450 exchanges nationwide by this summer.
Whilst some of these exchanges are now reporting in as Enabled, around 130 are still showing as scheduled for 30/06/2008. We’ve been speaking to Be and they’re working hard to make revised dates available, and as soon as they are they will be updated on this site.
As we’ve highlighted previously, the surge in demand for LLU services has put a lot of strain on BT Openreach as well as the capacity of the exchanges. This is almost certainly at least part of the reason behind these delays.
Just to reiterate: As soon as updated data is available from Be we will update the website and send out notifications in the usual manner.
Update: We’ve manually imported a list of revised dates from Be/O2’s LLU deployment team. The good news is that most have slipped only by a month. Also, there’s about another 25 exchanges that have been added to the list for later in the year. Four exchanges are still showing with end of June dates, but we’re chasing that up.
