Entanet launches LLU business services

25 Oct 2007 | 15.19 Europe/London
Entanet have this afternoon announced that they will be unbundling two exchanges over the next 6 weeks in order to provide uncontended "ethernet first mile" solutions. In optimum conditions the service is capable of up to 100Mbps symmetric speeds by utilising 40 bonded SDSL circuits. Businesses with particularly long lines will also be pleased to hear that the service can operate at up to 12km, albeit only at 64kbps. No pricing details were available at the time of writing.

The exchanges in question are Birmingham Central and Wolverhampton, which are due to go live on the 1st November and 1st December respectively. The West Midlands have been targetted partly because of Entanet's involvement in 21CN; they already have WBC (Wholesale Broadband Connect) presence in this area, so connectivity and backhaul is already catered for. Further exchanges will be unbundled in the new year.

It should be noted that this is very much a business service. Their next generation nationwide consumer services will be provisioned over WBC on 21CN.
