Fixed broadband will rise (nearly 50%) by 2015. Asia-Pac set for market to double
29 Nov 2010 | 17.46 Europe/London
Broadband researchers, Analysys Mason, are estimating that the world will have 500m fixed line connections by the end of the year and this will continue to rise to 720m broadband subscribers by 2015.
The near 50% growth in just five years will mainly be fed by emerging markets in Central and Latin America, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa. These younger broadband markets are expected to grow on average at around 13% each year over the period, with the more established, developed markets of North America and West Europe growing at around 3.9% each year.
Of the emerging regions the biggest growth is expected to be in Asia-Pacific where Analysys Mason researchers claims today’s 117m subscribers will more than double to 250m by the end of 2015.
