French Fibre to the Home co-funding project announced

French telecommunications operators SFR and Bouygues Telecom have announced they are to work together on a Fibre To The Home (FTTH) co-funded project.
Very few details have yet been released but it is believed the plan will see fibre run to homes in the country’s most heavily populated cities. The joint venture approach runs as far as providing the connection to the kerbside, thereafter each company has made it clear they will be in competition over the final customer.
SFR is already rolling out FTTH across France while Bouygues Telecom expects to offer its first service in the first half of next year.
