Thus, owner of Demon Internet, looks set to finally be owned by Cable & Wireless.
Despite the board rejecting C&W’s offer of 165p per share, which was increased to 180p at the end of June, it has now virtually conceded defeat. The turnaround has been prompted by Thus not receiving comparable offers from a ‘white knight’

Hot on the heels of last week’s news that Bulldog were cutting off all of their SDSL clients, it now seems that Bulldog is accepting no new customers at all.
Whilst the Bulldog website still speaks of its products on various pages, anyone attempting to buy any products or perform an availability check is redirected to

It seems that at the beginning of each year someone somewhere heralds the coming year as being the “year of broadband”. 2007 was no different, with many predicting that LLU would truly take off. In many ways this has held true - there are now in excess of 3 million unbundled lines in the UK,

Rumour has it that another major LLU player is about to embark upon a new deployment plan as well. Those of you who are particularly

Many of you have reported to me that the Bulldog data on the site is not truly reflective of what the Bulldog residential checker displays. This is because we take a feed from their wholesale checker, and whilst you might expect the information to tally closely, in quite a few cases it does not.
For this

I remember noting a few months back in the news how static Easynet’s LLU deployment was, while at the same time Bulldog and Be were steaming ahead with new exchanges. Well, the tables seem to have turned now! Easynet have brought 124 exchanges online for the LLU service in the past 28 days, whereas Bulldog

The Telegraph is this morning reporting that mobile group O2, itself recently purchased by Telefonica, has bought LLU operator Be Un Limited for £50m. The rumour mill has been working overtime for the last 12 hours since ZDNet published an article claiming that Bulldog were leaving the retail market and were instead going to resume offering wholesale products again. This morning Cable & Wireless, Bulldog’s parent company, has confirmed the story in their announcement.
In summary, from 1st July 2006

Just under a year ago, Cable and Wireless announced their year-end results for March 2005. Within this they stated that they planned to have 600 exchanges unbundled by Bulldog by March 2006, and 800 by late autumn 2006. Anyone familiar with the figures though will know that Bulldog have remained static at around 410 exchanges

After undergoing months of trials and forming the basis of endless speculation, Bulldog have finally launched their ADSL2+ services. Touted at running at 16Mbps downstream, with 1Mbps upsteam, the service is available at all of Bulldog’s unbundled exchanges (according to Bulldog’s FAQ).
It’s still unclear as to whether Bulldog are capping the product at 16Mbps or

I’ve updated the Bulldog data and added Be* and Wanadoo data to the site. The Be* and Wanadoo data is currently viewable only on the LLU pages. I’ll add that data to the individual exchange pages shortly (a major database change prohibits this at present).
More updates to follow soon.
