Virgin 50M Price Cut
15 Jul 2009 | 14.13 Europe/London
Virgin Media has announced a forthcoming price reduction on its 50M cable broadband service from £50 to £38 per month for new and existing customers from 1st September. If a phone line service is also taken the cost of the broadband falls to £28 per month making the total broadband plus line rental £39 per month.
The news of the changes comes with the impending completion of the 50M service rollout, bringing 50 Mbits/s downstream speeds to about half the UK population. Currently the 50M service has no traffic management applied, unlike the slower cable services.
VM has also announced trials of faster upstream services, giving up to 10 Mbits/s upload using the new DOCSIS 3.0 systems brought in for the 50M service.
