Virgin Media unveil cable broadband caps
Virgin Media have unveiled their traffic shaping policy (read: usage limits) for their cable broadband services after trials in the North West. Whilst the limits are generous (only being applied during the evening, and only throttling your speed for a few hours), they are sure to be unpopular in certain quarters. The Virgin Media forum over at ThinkBroadband is currently awash with users commenting on the new policy.
This move could also be seen as hypocritical given that it was only a month ago that Virgin Media was calling on ISPs to stop marketing services as unlimited when download limits were attached. As of today, Virgin Media still describe their broadband services as “unlimited” on their front page (link).
