Wanadoo (now called Orange) unbundled their first LLU exchanges in late 2005, offering 8Mbps broadband ahead of BT Wholesale's Max rollout in April 2006. Following TalkTalk's announcement of free broadband, it was only a matter of time before Wanadoo completed the name change to Orange (both companies were already owned by France Telecom) and launched their own broadband offer. At the end of May 2006, Orange completed the rebranding and the "free" broadband product was offered to mobile subscribers (providing their contract was greater than £30 per month, and they signed up for a further 18 months).
Orange uses a mixture of their own LLU network and BT Wholesale's IPStream products to provide ADSL services. Where Orange have unbundled the telephone exchange, users will be provisioned on their LLU network. Until early 2008 Orange did not differentiate LLU/IPStream pricing, but since then have introduced a complex pricing arragement that sees customers on LLU exchanges being offered significant discounts.
